Updates

So the short story Full Circle is now available from MLR Press. It will be interesting to see what readers think of a story line that is not traditional romance. Hopefully it’s clear enough from the blurb that people looking for a HEA won’t pick this one up. It’s always fun to see the comments appear on a new work.

I just got the cover for the werewolf book Unacceptable Risk from the artist. That’s exciting – the first look at the public face of my book. I’ve submitted the manuscript to proofreading now, so it should only be two or three weeks from release. MLR decides the exact day based on how busy the queue is, so I don’t have a definite release date yet. (Different publishers work differently, I guess. When my stand-alone novel was accepted by Samhain, they immediately gave me a March 6, 2012 release date. Way organized, but it also means more inflexible deadlines, where MLR caters to the author’s writing speed.) Anyway, the wolves should be coming soon, I’ll let you know when I know. In the meantime, this is the cover:

  1. I bought “Full Circle” (even tho I usually like a HEA) because your wrote it and also because I liked the excerpt. I plan to read it this weekend when I have more downtime!

Also like the cover for “Unacceptable Risk” and I usually don’t like full face covers…I like a bit more mystery…but this one looks nice and I like the b/w almost sepia tone.

Got my BC paperback from Amazon and I loved the story; the mystery and with Mac coming to terms with his “out” relationship with Tony. Very realistic (IMHO) and moving, can’t wait for thier next adventure!

I will keep an eye out for UR, I didn’t find it on the MLR homepage as of yet…

    • Thanks for all the positive comments. I hope you like the short story and I promise most of my stories (including Unacceptable Risk) have strong HFN to HEA endings. I just got Jamison’s voice in my head and had to write his story, even though he doesn’t get the permanent lover that I wish all people would find. He does end happy enough…

I like the sepia cover too. The artist decided to try something different and it fits the Minnesota winter setting of the book. MLR is a little slow getting my books into their Upcoming list for some reason – the short appeared five days before it released. Maybe I’m writing too fast. Hopefully UR will be up there soon, though. They do really try to support their authors.
