New short story in Audio

Have you heard of the “Romantisodes?” These are short stories produced in full audio by *Michael Ferraiuolo & Nick J. Russo.*

55 episodes so far, selling for $2.99 to $3.99 and this week (drumroll) they chose a short story of mine – a tale of a musician, coming home at last, in “Balancing the Scales.”

I love how this one turned out – love the narration and the added sound effects. If you’d like a little 16-minute taste of love with an HEA, check it out. (And you can find past episodes on this site from a variety of talented authors. I see Alice Winters in Ep. 14 featured, as just one example.)

Balancing the Scales

The rain ran down the back of my shirt and I shivered. I had my jacket wrapped around my guitar. She was my baby and my livelihood, and a little wet never hurt a man. Still, I can’t say I wasn’t shaking like jello on a jackhammer as I pulled open the back door.

That chill made me lose my grip on the doorknob as I stepped inside, and the damned thing slammed louder than I wanted it.

Most of the folks in front of me didn’t budge, or they grunted and turned over and went back to sleep. The low light of the lamp Jorie always left burning showed me half a dozen makeshift pallets on the family-room floor. Beside the huddled shapes of the men and women catching a moment’s blessed oblivion, heaps of belongings were capped by more than one instrument. I saw Laura’s lap harp, and Iko’s cello…

Hear Shane and Jorie’s story in awesome narration in this week’s Romantisode.
