The release of Home Work was made a little more stressful this week because of a problem with the Amazon listing. Amazon has apparently changed the way they apply the tags that are on a book when it’s uploaded. In the name of “simplifying”, they reduced the number of places a book could be initially listed, and went alphabetical.
As a result, Home Work was linked under Erotica but not Gay & Lesbian on Amazon for the last week. This was disappointing, since the story therefore did not appear on G&L New Releases or Best Seller lists.
Home Work‘s classification is now fixed, *yay!!* and although it’s past the initial peak of sales, Home Work still shows up high enough on those lists to catch attention, I hope. Thank you to everyone who already bought it by searching it out deliberately 🙂
I’m also preparing for GayRomLit. I’m alternately excited and nervous. I think I’m actually grateful for the delay that forced me to go as a reader and not officially as an author, since it meant I couldn’t sign up for anything. I can relax and enjoy hearing other people read their work out loud. As a reader, I’m not supposed to bring swag and promo items. But in case I run out of things to say, I did print up a little one-page sequel to Into Deep Waters to hand out.
Actually, I’m kind of looking forward to putting faces to so many familiar names. I’ll get to meet some of the authors I look up to. It will be good. And since we now have cool days and cold nights here in Minnesota, a little New Mexico sunshine is one more benefit of this trip. I hope to see some of you there.

Yeah, it was annoying. I’m hoping it’s still noticeable enough for people who just check Amazon New Releases to spot it. I mentioned the problem on an author loop and had two people thank me because they realized the same thing had happened to their self-pub books.

In my mind, and when I talk about your books, you are “KA-gee”, but since I’ve never heard it spoken, it could be pronounced “Kage” or something I hadn’t even considered 🙂 Thanks and I’ll see you in a couple of days!

I’m definitely going to write more. Although I tried to leave the guys in a stable place at the end of Home Work, I think readers would be a little frustrated not to see how things turn out. My plan is to have a free short story out for New Year’s, and then Book 4 at some point during 2013. (I can’t predict the timing – I have a lot to write, and then the publisher’s schedule varies.)
Didn’t realise it was out… been waiting ages for it 😀 Just bought it directly from MLR as Amazon tried to charge me more when they realised I lived in Ireland grr… ha. Can’t wait to catch up with Mac and Tony 🙂
